It is common knowledge that when we are searching for something on the web, someone else has already found it unless our search topic is really obscure. When searching using Google, Yahoo or pretty much any other site, we actually start from scratch. If we could get what someone else has already found, we would save a lot of time spent in searching.

PreFound is a search engine based on the idea of sharing already found resources on the web. PreFound does not index the web using computers but its web-index is put together by humans. People share links of what they have already found using other resources helping PreFound index the internet.

To search, just log on to PreFound and perform a search as usual. The results are picked up from the suggested links by other users. Hence, the search process is highly efficient as the link has been approved by a human and not a machine which can be fooled into picking irrelevant results.

PreFound is a great idea but like any other search engine, it has some downsides. PreFound does not help in performing subject specific search or while searching in different types of content like blogs, images, etc. Nevertheless, it can help you save enormous time spent online with search engines.
