Shorttext.com is going to prove really useful to those of you who haven't yet got to grips with making your own web pages and blogs, but would still like to stay in touch through the medium of the world wide web.

The idea is that if you have some text-based information you want to share with the world, or just a few of your friends, you type it in the box, and click to create a URL. A dedicated web address then appears at the top which you can copy and paste to send to whoever you like. You can also use the website's own facility to distribute the address, but bear in mind that you are giving your friends' email address to a website they might not prefer to use.

You can choose to make the information only accessible to these people only, and can even activate an option for visitors to the page to add their own comments.
